Spice i2i launches integrated, cross-platform IP communications service at CommunicAsia 2010

New S-unno service offers true mobility that enables users to be reached at a single phone number across multiple platforms with cost savings of up to 50 per cent

SINGAPORE, 15 June 2010 – In today’s fast-paced society, staying connected on-the-go while keeping operation costs down is the key to successful, cost-effective communication. Catering to the need for an integrated, low-cost mobile communication solution, Spice i2i Limited (formerly known as MediaRing Ltd) has launched a new S-unno service – a cross-platform, Internet Protocol (IP) based service that allows businesses and consumers to be reached at a single phone number across mobile phone, IP phone and PC platforms, via available GPRS, 3G and WiFi networks.

Premiering at CommunicAsia2010, the S-unno service empowers users with true mobility by giving them the option of choosing the lowest cost communication solution anytime, anywhere. To fully leverage the cross-platform capabilities of S-unno, users can utilise the full-featured S-unno IP Phone and install the free IP Mobile and PC Soft-Phone applications on their mobile phones and computers. Supported by Symbian, Android and Windows Mobile operating systems for mobile phones as well as Windows 7, Vista and XP for PCs and laptops, users can then operate a single phone number (with the 3-series PTSN (L3) number) across multiple devices and start using the S-unno service upon completion of set-up.

With the full S-unno (with the 3-series PTSN (L3) number) system in operation, the IP Phone will replace the user’s desk phone (with the L3 number replacing the land line number) while his laptop will serve as his primary telephony device locally or overseas (via PC Soft-Phone), in areas where internet connectivity is available. When away from the desk phone or laptop, the S-unno call forwarding feature connects incoming calls from those devices to his existing local mobile number. In the event where the user is overseas and without internet connectivity to use PC Soft-Phone on the laptop, the unique S-unno call forwarding feature will forward incoming calls from the local desk phone and mobile phone number (via the L3 number ) to his existing overseas mobile phone number. This will not only allow the user to save on expensive overseas roaming charges, but also ensure that he never misses a call regardless of his location.

Here is a quick overview of the benefits of the S-unno service with the 3-series PTSN (L3) number (see attached file for more details):
  • Cost savings of up to 50 per cent when making a call using the S-unno service
  • Make and receive calls anywhere using WiFi or 3G, even when you are overseas
  • No costly overseas roaming charges
  • Free incoming calls
  • No SIM card required for calls made over WiFi
  • Personalised L3 number for home, work or travel, at a subscription fee of S$4.00* a month (*terms and conditions apply)

Besides offering a fully-integrated communication solution across multiple platforms, the S-unno service also opens up new communication possibilities by enabling users to engage in conference calls, short message service (SMS) and instant messaging (IM) with users of other IM programmes such as MSN, Yahoo and Google. In addition, calls made between S-unno users are free of charge, translating to extra cost savings for all users.

In conjunction with the launch of S-unno, Spice i2i Limited will also be showcasing their first range of mobile phones as well as a selection of value-added services to complement the S-unno service. Set to launch later this year, this suite of hardware and software will complement the existing range of communication possibilities for S-unno users.

The S-unno service will soon be made available on other major mobile operating systems such as the iPhone OS, extending the benefits of this integrated communication solution to an even greater number of consumers.
